1. The Hunger Games meets So You Think You Can Dance

Saige wanted to have a dance contest, with Meadow being the judge. Well Reed, of course, wanted to play too. He decided his role would be the executioner, with Meadow telling him if Saige passed or not. According to Reed, Saige never passed and was unfortunately shot many times.

 This is a wonderful article and reminder of how we should teach the Bible to not just children, but to anyone (including ourselves).

 1.Birthday girl

Me, Jamie (as Hermione) and my amazing sister-in-law, Laura

 Jamie, a dear friend of mine celebrates her birthday today. She is one, among many friends, who has been such a blessing in my life, especially in this season of small children. I truly cherish our friendship. She helps me maintain my sanity, she prays for me and she laughs with me. She understands the, at times, ridiculousness of life with kids, she "gets it," she's honest and forthright, doesn't mince words (which is good for this people-pleaser) and she has really challenged me in my walk with the Lord. 
So, Happy Birthday, Jamie! Praying this year 32nd year is one of more growth, radical dependence upon the Lord, blessing beyond measure, snorting-out-your-nose laughter, abs of steal and lots of margaritas (with me, of course). Love you! 

 

2. House Concert

Some friends of ours hosted a house concert the other night, and the artists were Barry and Michelle Patterson. They were a-ma-zing. It was fun, intimate and you could tell they loved the Lord and one another. I am so thankful to have been introduced to their music (thanks, Kap and Wendy).  Right now, you can download 5 of their songs, but I don't think they'll be up for much longer. So go check them out. You won't be disappointed.

3.Human Sacrifice (not my favorite but this needs to be told)

This story is completely disgusting, shocking and repulsive.  
This is a call for the Church to pray. To weep. To be a voice for these victims.

Well, I'll tell you. Yoga mats and the soles of shoes. This article explains why the sandwich is bad for your health. It's sad to me that it's not surprising in the slightest. It makes me want to hurl.

"These components are in small enough quantities to be innocuous. But it's still a little disconcerting to know that, for example, azodicarbonamide, a flour-bleaching agent that is most commonly used in the manufacture of foamed plastics like in gym mats and the soles of shoes, is found in the McRib bun. The compound is banned in Europe and Australia as a food additive."

Do you use Instagram? I use it on my iPhone ALL. THE. Stinkin. TIME. I swear it makes any regular picture look fantastic. Here is a recap in instagram pics of the past few weeks. 



Our church meets in the evening on Sundays, so we usually spend the morning running errands as a family. I am always super insecure about people thinking we don't go to church. Not so much because I feel judged as much as I want people know it's important to me and a huge part of our lives. But I also don't want to get them dressed for church that early either because they might get dirty. I decided it's not worth worrying about what other people think. So here's to me letting go of what others think and letting them wear whatever they wanted to run to Lowe's last Sunday.

Super Reed and the mask I made quickly for his halloween costume. I was inspired by a friend who made them for her entire family. Hers looked a lot better. But as Patrick reminded me when I asked if I should start over - "It's going to just end up on the ground in the closet." I love that practical man of mine.

 

This one is for you, Mama Sharp! Meadow was super excited to open and find the cowgirl hat you sent for her birthday. She looks pretty cute, huh? 

 

And lastly, I want to tell you about my friend Blossom. She is amazing with the knitting needles and I mentioned this scarf to her after seeing it on pinterest.  Well, she made me this scarf and hat and put them in my mailbox this past week and totally surprised me. She rocks. If you're interested in purchasing one, let me know and I will get you her contact info. She has an etsy shop, Curly Giraffe, but right now she is just taking orders for the scarves so she can get specifics and not end up making ones that people don't want. Anyways, they're priced very reasonably as well and I think you would look fabulous in one!

In keeping with Wimberly tradition, we are off to the zoo again for miss Meadow's birthday WEEK.

I'm sure everyone is well aware of my obsession with pinterest, and how much time I've wasted inspiration it has given me. 

Well, one of my favorite things about it, is actually completing a project that I started. Here is one more I finished after seeing this on pinterest.
We have a small bathroom for the kids and it is quite comical when ALL 5 of us are in there trying to get the kids ready for bed. I was getting tired of the Reederator always getting his toothbrush and scrubbing the sink with it! So I was so happy to finish this project that has saved space and kept their things organized at the same time. I am so happy with how they turned out!

I pray regularly that God would capture my children's imaginations. My good friend and my children's godmother (no, I'm not Catholic, but my husband and I wanted this particular family to be more than just friends, we wanted them to be set apart as spiritual mentors in their lives as well). Anyways, I digress. This friend of mine always prayed that for her kids and I started to when my kids were born. I want them to know that the theme, of good vs. evil, plays out in every story ever written. That God wrote that story and He placed it into man's heart. So when they read their favorite book or watch their favorite movie, they will know that the theme is not original. That it originated in God, in the creator Himself. I want them to see Christ when they read all sorts of different stories. Because ultimately we have all been written into His Story.
So when i read this article by N.D. Wilson, I couldn't wait to share it! He captures so well this idea of God capturing our imagination. I encourage you to go read it now.

 "Kids (and adults) don’t just need the truth in their heads — they need it in their bones. I understand in essence people are saying that God will be there in time of need, but the fact of the matter is that - God gives us more than we can handle all the time. friday favorites {pinterest}

 Pinterest is exploding. I find new people on it all the time. Because it is absolute genius. I thought at first that I would end up hating it because it would just remind me of all the awesome things I don't do with my time. And that I would feel like this:

 

But it has actually had the opposite effect. It has inspired me and I have actually gotten several projects done. This one being the most recent.

I think it has inspired me, because I see how easy some of the stuff is and it doesn't seem as overwhelming. Also, when you need to look at how to make something and you're in Lowe's or Hobby Lobby, or something, you can just check it on your iPhone. Strange times we are living in, indeed. Or you can check it on your friend's iPhone that you borrowed because you left your new i4 in a parking lot. Anyways, the point is that I heart pinterest.

These are some of the wall hangings that I have seen and am thinking about putting in our house.
