the big winter blast of 2011

This was it, y'all.

This was all it did to our mailbox here in south Texas.  Quite comical really.

I guess I could poke fun at all the crazy weathermen who warned and scared us into believing that the end was near.

And I could laugh at all the crazy Texans who can't drive in this type of weather and who don't know what "real" snow is.  Like there in Chicago on Lake Shore Drive.

But I won't.  Because I like it here.  I like that the threat of snow sends us into a tailspin.  I like that we all get a little panicky and head to the store and stock up on supplies.

Because that means it's NOT normal.  That means we don't have to deal with this year in and year out.

I mean I don't know how you moms do it up north.  Seriously, how do you do it?  And I seriously don't know how SHE does it.  You are a super mom, Jacki.
I loathe socks and jackets.  I can't wait until my kids can all wear flip-flops again.  I know not having to scour the house for shoes and socks will give me an extra 30 min a day, I'm sure of it.

Not living in snow means we can go here and dress like this most of the year, and I like it like that.

So Winter Blast of 2011, God bless you for only doing this.

SnOw

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

Houston made history yesterday with the earliest snowfall on record! It was so beautiful and so much fun, especially with the girls. I absolutely love the snow. Growing up in Colorado as a child has made for some special memories and snow was usually involved. So yesterday, we listened to Christmas music while the tree was lit and we drank hot chocolate when we got done playing outside. It was magical and I feel so blessed. Thank you God for that sweet gift.
